In 2011 we celebrate our 135 year anniversary. Van Hemert & Co. has been founded in 1876 as seed merchants and breeding company. In the early days vegetable seeds for local growers were the majority of our business. Gradually we specialized in seeds in pictorial packets for retail outlets throughout the Netherlands. In 1996 new management took over the company. The production of seeds and the breeding of new ornamental varieties has been started then for our own range of pictorial packets and professional growers and nurseries, but also for other seed companies. In spite of our age we are always searching with a youthful enthusiasm for fascinating new varieties of flowers and other ornamental plants for the amateur gardeners and professional growers alike.
